Core Class with the SCTA
When we talk about core strength, we are referring to the strength of twenty-nine (29) muscles that include the TVA (transverse abdominis) muscles, the muscles of the pelvic floor, the lats and the obliques.
Why do we work so hard to get a strong core? Core strength is the backbone to everything we do. Your trunk, where the kinetic chains come together, is the foundation for your posture, balance and coordinated movement. The muscles we are working on to strengthen in this class are being trained in the proper order to give you a stable foundation for movement. When we have this great core strength, we have the support and power for just about any activity we participate in, less chance of injury, more confidence from your own increase in strength and ability to balance as well as a decrease in, or prevention of low back pain. I feel this is a vital part of your training for a triathlon as it truly is laying a solid foundation to succeed in all three sports.
