President's Update: Santa Barbara, Epix Santa Cruz 70.3

Hope you haven't melted out there!

Congratulations to the Jon and Christine Erskine, Gunnar Roll & Jeff Tse on their incredible finishes at the unique Santa Barbara Triathlon! Jon and Gunnar finished 5th in their age groups in highly competitive fields. See Gunnar's race report.

Run by the Sea. So many racers...but congratulations to Gerardo van den Hoek on taking out the 13.1 overall. Solid performance!

A big SCTA THANK YOU to Monica Hernandez and Andrew King for volunteering at the Great Strides Walk for Cystic Fibrosis 5k. Thank you so much!

Another EPIX order is up! Click HERE to place your order and when you do please use #EpixGear in your social media posts!

Ironman is still looking for some homestays for this weekends Ironman 70.3. You don't have to have a nice place or even a big place, just a bed (or a blow up mattress maybe) for them to crash in and get a good night's rest before they race. Please contact Steve Doinidis if you are willing to open up your home this weekend.

Now that all of the coaching sessions specific to the September races are all done, don't hesitate to post on the Facebook page HERE if you have any questions!

Keep your eye out for a crazy dude on Sunday near the end of West Cliff cheering on all the SCTA athletes...in a speedo! Where do I get one those?

(We have women's swim suits as well!! Word on the street is they're a bit snug, so keep that in mind)

A lot coming up in the next few weeks:

- 9/10 - Ironman 70.3 Santa Cruz

- 9/17 - Dip & Dash (1m swim / 5m run)

- 9/24 - Santa Cruz Triathlon (Olympic & Sprint)

Lastly, if you are not racing in our very own Santa Cruz Triathlon on Sept 24 then we REALLY need you to volunteer on the in-town bike course along West Cliff! By owning the in-town bike course volunteering positions we receive our fair share of the proceeds along with all of the schools that volunteer. This money that goes out to the schools pays for uniforms, field times, travel and equipment. For us, it pays for monthly socials, end of the year parties and raffle prizes.

Please click HERE to sign up for a volunteer spot.
